About us

About Champion Karate & Krav Maga

Building champions in martial arts and in life since 1975.

Our mission

We partner with every student to help them reach their full potential. Our classes build confidence, discipline, respect, and resilience, along with self-defense skills students can rely on. From a 4-year-old’s first class to an adult earning a black belt, every student trains in a place that’s invested in their growth.

How we work

Our shared values keep us connected and guide us as one team.

Respect

We believe in treating others with kindness and consideration. Respect is the foundation of all our interactions, both in and out of the studio. It fosters a positive environment where everyone feels valued.

Discipline

Discipline is key to mastering martial arts and achieving personal goals. Through consistent practice and self-control, our students learn the importance of dedication and perseverance in all aspects of life.

Confidence

We empower our students to believe in themselves and their abilities. Building confidence through martial arts helps individuals face challenges head-on and succeed in their personal and professional lives.

Integrity

We uphold the highest standards of honesty and ethics in all our actions. Integrity is about doing the right thing, even when no one is watching, and it is a core principle of our training.

Community

We foster a sense of belonging and support within our martial arts family. Our community encourages teamwork, friendship, and mutual encouragement, creating a nurturing environment for personal growth.

Growth

We are committed to the continuous improvement of our students and ourselves. Through martial arts, we encourage lifelong learning and personal development, helping individuals grow physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Isaiah Kiefer

Isaiah joined the Champion Karate & Krav Maga team in May 2026 and helps keep things running smoothly both at the front desk and behind the scenes. He can often be found assisting students and families at the front desk and is usually the person responding to messages.

Isaiah’s goal is to always have an answer to your question—and if he doesn’t know the answer right away, to find someone who does! Whether you have a question about your account, an upcoming event, scheduling, or simply aren’t sure who to ask, Isaiah is always happy to help find the answer or point you in the right direction.

He’s also one of the best ways to get in touch with Mr. Hackett when he’s busy teaching. If you need to speak with Mr. Hackett but aren’t able to pull him aside before or after class, let Isaiah know or send the school a message, and he’ll make sure it gets to him.

In addition to working with students and families, Isaiah assists with payroll, graphic design, communications, and many of the behind-the-scenes projects that help keep Champion Karate & Krav Maga organized and running smoothly.

Our story unfolds

Explore our milestones, growth, and memorable achievements throughout our journey.

For 50 years, Champion Karate & Krav Maga has been teaching martial arts in Medford. Since 1975, we’ve grown into the Rogue Valley’s oldest and most respected martial arts school, and we’ve trained generations of local families along the way.

The way we teach has kept up with the times. Today we offer traditional karate for every age starting at 4, plus Krav Maga for teens and adults who want practical, real-world self-defense. One thing hasn’t changed: we care about who our students become, not just what rank they earn.

Many of the people teaching here today first stepped onto this mat as students. Parents who once trained here now bring their own kids. That’s what 50 years in one community looks like.

Today, Our Martial Arts proudly operates five thriving schools united by a shared commitment to courage, discipline, and community. We are passionate about supporting our students every step of the way—celebrating their growth, recognizing their achievements, and encouraging them to push beyond their limits.
